Norman Edwin “Ed” Smith, 77, of Lynchburg passed away Saturday, June 11, 2022. He was the loving husband of Ruth Overstreet Smith for over 55 years.
Ed was born on May 18, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a son of the late George C. Smith and Edith Queen Smith. Ed honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy and was retired from Griffin Pipe where he worked as a welder. He was a proud life-long member of the NRA and enjoyed photography.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Michael Smith (Jenni), two grandchildren Jed and Abby Smith all of Bedford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother George Smith.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2022, at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg.
A Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2022, in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home with Jedediah Smith officiating.
In lieu of flowers please consider making memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to a charity of your choice.
