Norman Gerald Mays, Sr., 80 of Lynchburg, VA ,born September 2, 1937, returned to his forever home on February 28, 2018, Norman was surrounded by his loving family and wife of 64 years, Joyce Hughes Mays. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Verna Mays, son, Norman Gerald Mays, Jr., and Brother Garland Edward Mays.
He is survived by his children, daughter-in-law, Joyce Palmer Mays (Gerald), daughter: Wanda Mays; son Danny Mays, and daughter, Faith Mays Adkins and her husband Kenny Adkins, all of Lynchburg, Virginia, two sisters Barbara Lemire and husband Denis, Of Florida, and Joyce Mays, of NC. Sister in law Sandra Lee and Husband Buddy, of Forest, Va. Many nieces and nephews.
He was a loving Grandfather with nicknames for each of his Grandchilden and Great Grandchilden. Jennifer Seigla (James), Michael Mays (Kristin), Christopher Mays (Liz), Shaun Bryant (Jordan), Amanda Holland (Greg), Ashley Bright (Tom) and Brittany Bell (Rusty). His great grandchildren ranged from the age of 22 to 3 months, Micah Votaw, Katie Mays, Isaiah Seigla, Destiny Karl, Tommy Bright, Adam Bryant, MacKenzie Mays, Brynnleigh Bryant, Rylan Bright, Landon Mays, Emmi Mays, Wyatt Bell and Fynlee Holland.
The family would like to send a special Thank You to Centra Hospice Team, Olinca, Rebekkah, Virginia and Kelly.
Until we see you again… we love you one more!!!
Services will be held in Tharp Funeral Home Chapel at 6:00 pm Saturday, March 3, 2018 with Pastor Jonathan Falwell officiating. Private interment will follow at a later date. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
