Norval Atwater Boone, Sr. 94, of Bedford, died Thursday, December 9, 2010. He was born September 11, 1916, in Franklin County, a son of the late Dexter Benjamin Boone and Mabel Clark Crook Boone. In addition to his parents, Norval was preceded in death by his first wife, Eva Huffman Boone; a daughter; Mary French Hudson; a son, Dr. Frank D. Boone, and a brother, Captain Carmon B. Boone.
Norval graduated in 1939 from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He was a member of Bedford Baptist Church and the Friendship Bible Sunday School Class, a retired Bedford Cooperative Extension Agent for over 30 years where he organized and supported many community organizations and activities such as the 4-H Clubs and the Bedford Jaycees, a Farmers Home Administration Supervisor of eight years, and worked as an Agricultural Credit Agent for Liberty Bank of Bedford. He was a charter member of the Peaks of Otter Soil and Water District, a board member of the Virginia Agri-business Council, a board member of Dairymen Incorporate Old Dominion Division, a charter member of Bedford County Farm Bureau, a 60 year Mason of Liberty Lodge No. 95 AF & AM, a 50 year member of Bedford Royal Arch Chapter No. 60, a York Rite Mason, a Shriner, member of the Kazim Temple, and a member of the Bedford Shrine Club, a charter member of the New London Ruritan Club and a past member of the Peaks Odd Fellows Lodge, member of the Lynchburg Elks Club, charter Member of the 8-Ball Club, a charter member of the Bedford Chittling Club, Charter member of \"Lets Have A Ball Club,\" and most of all a dairy and beef farmer in Bedford County for many years.
Norval is survived by his wife, Gracie Jane Hurt Boone; one son; N. A. Boone, Jr. and his partner, Eddie, of Bedford; two daughters, Barbara B. Witt, and her husband, John, of Bedford and Amy B. Quesenberry and her husband, David, of Huddleston; three stepsons, Howard Edward Bradley and wife, Joan, of Vinton; Kevin Clark Bradley of Bedford; Mark Anthony Bradley (Andrea), of Bedford; three stepdaughters, Patricia B. Crockett and her husband, Rick, of Vinton, Deborah Bradley, of Bedford and Jennifer B. Peacock, of Roanoke; one brother, Mirrill A. Boone of Fallon, Nevada; three sisters, Jean B. Naff of Midlothian, VA, Kathryn B. Bennett of Rocky Mount, VA, and Janice B. Boitnott of Boones Mill, VA; eleven grandchildren, Joi B. Hartsfield and husband, Joe, Jerry L. Hudson and wife, Beth, Michael D. Hudson and Lynette, Paul D. Boone and wife, Mary, Kelly S. StLaurent and husband, Chet, Kristie H. Witt and husband, Michael, Patrick L. Snyder and wife, Renae, Ryan B. Boone, Darlene N. Quesenberry, Sara-anne M. Quesenberry and Christian L. Quesenberry; five great-grandchildren, Taylor B. StLaurent, Kyndall S. Witt, Eva M. Hudson, Conner A. Witt and Evan C. Hudson; 14 step-grandchildren, Crystal C. Adkins, Traci J. Crockett, Heather B. Sellers and husband, Joe, Troy Woodson, Trevor Woodson, Tyler Woodson, Thorson Heisler, Chad Bradley, Vanessa Bradley, K.C. Bradley, Conner Bradley, Addison Bradley, Monet Steele, Cole Peacock; seven step great-grandchildren, Avery Adkins, Alice Adkins, Lauren Bradley, Jacob Bradley, Joshua Bradley, Lucas Sellers and Lucy Sellers; and numerous nephews, nieces, friends, and devoted caregivers.

A celebration of Norval\"™s life will be conducted at 2 PM on Monday, December 13, 2010 at Bedford Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. David L. Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
