Odessa A. Calloway, 94, of Lynchburg, VA, was called from labor to rest on Wednesday morning, February 26, 2025, at the Bedford County Nursing Home. She was the widow of James E. Calloway, Sr.
Born in Coleman Falls Va, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Lucy Sadler. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Randolph Sadler, and three sisters, Geraldean Hale, Thelma Turner and Helen Sadler. One grandson, Shawn Calloway, three son-in-laws, Raymond White, Michael Robertson Sr and Reginald Reynolds.
She leaves to cherish her memories, Robert (Barbara) Calloway (Williamsburg, VA), Alfreda White (Coleman Falls, VA), James (Vanessa) Calloway (Madison Heights, VA), Janice (Russell) Christian (Lynchburg, VA), Marilyn Robertson (Ruther Glen, VA), Tony (Deborah) Calloway (Roanoke, VA), Bernadine (Maurice) Hayes (Fredericksburg, VA), Steven (Sylvia) Calloway (Atlanta, GA), Selena Reynolds (Richmond, VA), twenty-seven grandchildren, forty-five great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family wants to extend special thanks to the caregivers at the Bedford County Nursing Home.
A celebration of Odessa’s life will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. Interment will follow at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
