Opal Townsend Nash

April 24, 1924 — January 28, 2017

Opal Beatrice Townsend Nash, 92, died January 28, 2017 at Edley Home Care Lynchburg, Virginia.  She was born April 30, 1924 in Banner Elk, NC, a daughter of the late Sherman Townsend and Cora Townsend Norwood.  She was predeceased by her husband of 74 years, Hunter Everette Nash, two sisters, Vaden Townsend and Virgie Woodall and two brothers, Ralph and Homer Townsend.

She is survived by two sons, Wiley L. Nash (Dianne) of Forest, VA and Harold H. Nash (Gale) of Lynchburg, VA,  three grandchildren, Rev. Greg S. Nash (Denise) Memphis, TN, Kevin B. Nash (Carrie) of Lynchburg, VA and Dari Nash Swift, Mechanicsville, VA, one brother, Colonel Townsend (Elizabeth) of Farmville, VA and three great-grandchildren  Jim, Jessica and Jordan.

She was a member of Timberlake Baptist Church and retired as a seamstress from Courtland Manufacturing Co.

The family thanks Dr. Gezen, Seven Hills Home Health and Hospice and the Care Givers at Edley Home Care for the excellent care provided.

Visitation will be held at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, VA on Monday, January 30th, 2017 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at Tharp Funeral Chapel at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 31, 2017 by Rev. Thomas A. Dill, Sr., Dr. Bryan Ferrell and Rev. Greg S. Nash.  Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Timberlake Baptist Church Building Fund, 21395 Timberlake Road, Lynchburg, VA 24502 or Timberlake United Methodist Church Grief Ministry, 21649 Timberlake Road, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
