Oscar Lewis Booker, Sr., of 508 Franklin Street, Lynchburg Va., entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at Guggenheimer Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Lynchburg, Va., on January 6, 1937 to the late Nelson and Celia Booker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by; one sister, Sarah B. Ford and two brothers, Arthur Lee Booker and James Nelson Booker.
Oscar joined White Rock Baptist Church at an early age. He served faithfully as Trustee and Sexton until his health failed.
Oscar was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be truly missed by his family as well as his friends and community.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 62 years, Margurite Fuqua Booker; sister Amanda “Booker” Hunting; two children Oscar Booker Jr., and Felicia Booker; in laws Elizabeth “E.V.” Booker, Mary Booker, Valerie Pullen, Vanessa (Samuel) Wright, Harry “H.T.” (Peggy) Thompson, Wilfred “Stanley” Thompson, George Ford, Sr. ; two granddaughters Trevieta “T.K.” Booker and Sedora Booker; two grandsons Kenai and Rajan Booker; three great-grandchildren Xiion, Xamera, and Lea Highsmith; as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A private memorial service will be held.
