Oscar Bland \"O.B.\" Ayers, Jr. of Madison Heights passed on October 30, 2011.
A wonderfully, dearly loved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend has left us three days before his 82nd birthday. The family is at peace knowing that O. B. is in a happy pain free place having left us with a life time of great memories. He was known for giving full measure in his personal life and business dealings as a paint contractor for forty plus years; a proud combat veteran of the Korean War; during his retirement he loved his farming and real estate ventures.
O. B. was born in Lynchburg, a son of the late Oscar Bland Ayers, Sr. and the late Ellen Ayers. He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Ernest and Curtis Ayers and a sister: Jean Hughes.
In addition to his wife, Ruth of 56 years, he is survived by his children: two sons: Douglas B. Ayers, Thomas B. Ayers and his wife, Gina Melissa Ayers; a daughter: Gina Ayers Adams; grandchildren: Jacob, Bethany, Brian, and David Ayers, Luke Mannion and Meagan Adams.
He is also survived by two sisters: Ann Jordan, Betty Mawyer and her husband, Ray; a sister-in-law: Glenna Rowland and host of special friends.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Madison Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Blake officiating, a visitation will follow the service at the Church and other times at the home.
