Otha Looney, Jr.

Otha Lee “Pops” Looney, Jr., 83, of Bedford passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016. He was born on October 6, 1932 in Craig Co. VA. He is the son of the late Laura and Otha L. Looney. In addition to his parents Pops was preceded in death by his loving wife, Madeline Elizabeth Looney and a step son, Raymond E. Young. He served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of Light House Free Will Baptist Church.

 

Pops is survived by his special step daughter, Helen Martin; step son, John Young; brother, Bobby Looney and wife, Dorothy; two sisters, Grace Carter and husband, Ambrose and Sandra Overstreet and husband, Reggie; very special friends and caregivers, John Cronin and wife, Anne, Al and Shelby Wood, Chad and Liz Harrison and Sue Harrison and husband, Bill and Larry wells; also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

A celebration of Pop’s life will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 4, 2016 at Tharp Funeral Chapel with Pastor Larry Ross officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 pm prior to the service.
