Otis Oliver Henderson

Otis Oliver Henderson, 78, of Concord, Virginia, passed away on March 16, 2025. He was the son of the late Orin Henderson and Ora Henderson and the husband of Norma Keatts Henderson for 57 years.

Otis was born on October 31, 1946, in Altavista, Virginia. He attended school in Campbell and Amherst Counties and then joined the U.S. Navy. After completing his military service, he was employed with Babcock and Wilcox until he retired in 1999.

Otis was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Concord, Virginia for 48 years and was a born-again believer in Jesus Christ. He fully loved his family unconditionally and generously; he found great joy in music, fishing, and hunting; he was an avid Yankees fan and always enjoyed watching a good race on a Sunday. “Double-O” had the best sense of humor, and he passed that quality on to his children and grandchildren. He would want to be remembered in laughter.

Otis is survived by his wife, Norma; his children, Kimberly Staton (Bobby) and Audrey Gray (Stephen); his grandchildren, Haleigh Young, Brooke Young, Christian Gray, and Oakley Gray; his great-grandchildren, Mila Glover and Cameron Glover; and his sisters, Sarah Sligh (Jimmy), Deborah Bennett, Cheryl Soult (Ronnie), Karen Patterson (Randy), and Donna Dodd (Bo); and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends in the community.

In addition to his parents, Otis is preceded in death by his sister, Glenna Henderson North.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, with Chad Harris officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church in Concord, Va, or the American Diabetes Association (ADA).
