Otis Lee Watkins, Jr., 97, of Rustburg, VA, died Tuesday, December 19, 2017.
Born Saturday, May 1, 1920 in Rustburg, Doc was a son of the late Otis Lee Watkins, Sr., and the late Lula Hawkins Watkins.
Doc was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Evelyn Furlong Watkins; and 2 sisters, Laura Watkins Thompson and Elizabeth Watkins Phillips.
Doc is survived by his children, Ed Lee Watkins and wife, Cathy of Roseland, and Linda Jo Watkins Shirey and husband, Herbert of Spout Spring; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Doc proudly served our country as a member of the US Army Corps during World War II. He was a Past Master of Mackey Masonic Lodge # 69. Doc loved the Lord and his family. He enjoyed fishing and traveling, especially to Florida.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 22, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Rustburg Baptist Church. A celebration of Doc’s life will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. in Rustburg Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Roller and Rev. Rick Cole officiating. Interment will follow in Cumbie Memorial Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post-16.
