Oveda Jean Kendrick, of Moneta, VA passed away on August 27, 2017. Born on June 2, 1937 in Lake Wales Fla. Jean was the daughter of the late Oveda Cumbee and James Marcus Barnett. In addition, Jean is predeceased by her sister Jerri Harrell, and brothers Roger Barnett and James Barnett.
Jean is also predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Robert Kendrick. She was a homemaker most of her life, and upon their retirement from AT& T in Washington DC, they moved to Calabash NC. Jean then happily went to work at JC Penny in Myrtle Beach SC. As hobbies, she thoroughly enjoyed watching Nascar races and the pro football games every season. She loved to laugh, loved seafood, cook outs, dining out with friends and family, plus jet skiing on SML. Above all, she loved her many, many cherished pets over the years. Mom was also an avid gardener and leaves behind many unique items in her garden.
Jean is survived by her four children Bobbie Jean Turner, Oveda Antoinette Dunnam, Robert Roy Kendrick II and Wayne Marcus Kendrick (Melanie). Her grandchildren Thomas Mitchell (Carson), Amanda Reynolds (Jeff), Maxwell Turner (Meredith), Alex Turner, Samuel Kendrick, Rachel and Katie Kendrick, plus several nieces and nephews. Great grandchildren, Adler and Arden Reynolds, Charlotte Turner and Camden Mitchell.
