Owen “Binky” Banton

Owen Lee Banton, Jr., age 67, of Madison Heights, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013, in Roanoke, VA.   Born October 13, 1945 in Lynchburg, Binky was a son of the late Madeline Woody Banton and the late Owen Lee Banton, Sr.

Binky is survived by his sister Bonnie Gowen and her husband, Bernie, of Madison Heights, a nephew Bradley Stinnette, of Madison Heights, two nieces: Marsha Wells and her husband, Robbie, of Lynchburg, and Susan Anderson and her husband, Dean, of Buford, GA; and a special cousin, Jane Johnson, of Lynchburg.

Binky proudly served our country as a member of the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a very independent person, who enjoyed wood working. He especially liked making things with his hands.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 26, 2013 in Fort Hill Memorial Park, with the Rev. Charles Stinson officiating.

The family would like to thank care givers Shirley Thomas and Cecil Crawford for the loving care given to Binky.
