Owen Kenneth Owens, 78, of Lynchburg, Va., found eternal peace Saturday, April 23, 2016. He was the loving husband of Jean Bachelor Owens.
Owen was born in Wilson County, N.C. on Setpember 4, 1937, a son of Bennie William Owens and Martha Thelma Owens. He was a graduate of Charles L. Coon High School. Owen had a fulfilling career as an construction estimator, until he and his wife opened up their own arts and craft gift shop fondly known as “Pines and Needles.” Owen was a caring man who never met a stranger and loved the outdoors, particularly the mountains.
In addition to his wife, left to cherish Owen’s memory are his daughters, Vicky Jaynes, Cindy Gaebe and husband, Roy, Kimberly Sue Owens, and Wendy Elliot and husband, Mike; seven grandchildren; sisters, Sylvia Matthews, Bonnie Garner, and Martha (Marty) Grady and husband, Relmond; brother, Wallace Owens and his wife, Carol.
In addition to his parents, Owen was preceded in death by his brother, William Joseph Owens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Autism Society https://www.autism-society.org/.
