Patricia Clarke Garner

d. April 19, 2023

Patricia Clarke Garner, 63, of Lynchburg, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at her residence. She was the wife of Thomas Garner for 40 years.

Born in Charlottesville on November 2, 1959, she was a daughter of the late James Clarke and Ruby Clarke. She attended All Peoples Church. Her greatest loves were Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, and her family. She also loved being outside, flowers, and enjoying God’s creation. She was known for selflessly giving of her time and abilities, volunteering throughout the community and church. She was known by many in the Rustburg community as “the Monkey Lady,” volunteering and helping elementary children attend school safely and joyfully each morning for years. She also touched many lives serving at the Lighthouse Community Center. Her kindness and warmth were apparent to all who met her. The only thing more evident than her sweetness was her love of the Lord and obedience to His will, which she would proudly profess to all. She became a mentor and mother to many over the course of her life. Her sons’ friends all called her “Mama,” and her “monkey children” would often stop her in the store to say hello. She was a source of inspiration to all who needed it, always encouraging and reminding everyone to trust in Jesus and “just keep swimming.”

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Greg Garner (Ashton), Daniel Garner (Michelle), and Ross Garner (Caitlin); grandchildren, Gabriel, Emerson, Charlotte, Lillian, Nora, Haven, Grace, Reed, and Sophie; siblings, Tom Clarke (Johnnie), Steve Clarke (Carol), Sarah Midkiff (Kyle) and Gayle Stephens (Scott); her brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve Garner, Janet Hooper (Randy), Karen Berry (Reggie), Gary Garner (Lynn), Beth Morrison (Richard), and Laura Pribble (Keith).

There will be a raised from the dead ceremony at 11:00am Thursday, April 27, 2023, at All Peoples Church, so come believing.
