Patricia Elgin Rorrer, 86, of Lynchburg went to be with her Lord, Thursday, February 4, 2021. She was the devoted wife of the late Alvin Haymon Rorrer.
Patricia was born in Patrick County, Virginia on January 13, 1935, a daughter of the late Buren Alexander Elgin and Ora Roberson Elgin. Patricia was a former school teacher. She retired as a social worker with the Campbell County Social Services, and was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her five children: Kim Wilson (Tim) of Brookneal, Sheree Arrington (Marc) of Milton, GA, Richard Rorrer of Leasburg, NC, Carla Stanley (Sherman) of Rustburg, and Jill Torrence (Richard) of Lynchburg; and eight beloved grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, R. Glenn Elgin of Martinsville, and three sisters: Betty Jane Holt of Stuart, Sandra Richardson of Moneta, and June Gunter of Stuart, and loving friend and caregiver, Brenda Connelly.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, B. Randolph Elgin and James (Billy) Elgin, and one grandchild, Logan Dean Stanley.
The family would like to thank and recognize the staff of 6th floor Hearthside, Westminster Canterbury for the compassionate care shown to their mother.
For the safety and concern for others, funeral services for Patricia are being held privately for the family. Interment will follow at Cumbie Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, the Alzheimer’s Association or Smith River Church of the Brethren in Stuart, VA.
