Patricia McGuire Mazanec, 75, of Monroe, VA, died Friday, December 28, 2012. She was the wife of Bernard Edwin Mazanec for 55 years.
Born Friday, October 01, 1937 in Spring Hill, MT, Patricia was a daughter of the late Alfred McGuire and the late Martha Bennett McGuire.
In addition to her husband Patricia she is survived by four children: Thomas Paul Mazanec and his wife, Beth, of Helena, MT, David Brian Mazanec, of Alexandria, VA, Daniel Gerard Mazanec and his wife, Juvy, of Chapel Hill, NC, Julie Terese Barger and her husband, Tracy, of Franklin, TN; four grandchildren: Mike Mazanec and his wife, Traci, of Helena, MT, Nicholas Mazanec and his wife, Sarah, of Helena, MT, Mark Mazanec, of Chapel Hill NC, and Molly Mazanec, of Chapel Hill, NC; two step grandchildren Natalie and Lea Barger, of Franklin, TN.; two great Grandchildren, Isaac and Andrew Mazanec, of Raleigh, NC, a brother, Michael McGuire, of Butte, MT, two sister: Juanita Swanson and her husband, Clarence, of Billings, MT, and Dixie Johnson, of Grand Junction, CO.
Patricia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Family meant everything to her. Her other passion was hard work. She became a nurse to be able to take better care of her children. Later she earned a pre law degree and worked for Liberty University. She convinced Bernard that they needed to travel and they along with their children eventually visited 35 of the states.
A celebration of Patricia's life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 7, 2013 at Elon Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Mr. Barry Tucker officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
