Patricia P. Rosser Colby died on Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at Westminster-Canterbury.
She was born on July 11, 1931, in Stockton Heath, Cheshire, England, the only child of John A. and Bessie Massey Pinnington. She was a graduate of Warrington High School for Girls and of Liverpool University, England.
During the 1950\"™s she worked as an executive officer for the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority and from 1959 to 1961 as a liaison officer for the British Attaché for Atomic Energy at the British Embassy in Washington, DC.
After her marriage to the late Dr. Shirley E. Rosser, she taught at Phillips Business College and later worked as Assistant to the Registrar at Randolph-Macon Woman\"™s College. Following her retirement she was married to Robert W. Colby. For many years she was an active member of St. Stephen\"™s Episcopal Church in Forest, where she served two terms as Vestryman; recently she had become a member of St. John\"™s Episcopal Church in Lynchburg. She also worked as a volunteer for the Central Virginia Alzheimer\"™s Association and served as a docent for the Lynchburg Museum System. She was a friend of Lynchburg College and a former president of the Lynchburg College Woman\"™s Club.
She is survived by her beloved children, a daughter, Elizabeth Rosser Boiardi and her husband Daniele of S. Margherita Ligure, Italy, and by a son, David A. Rosser and his wife Laurie and their two sons, Patrick and Matthew, of Waxhaw, North Carolina.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 \"" 8:30 PM on Friday, January 7, 2011, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 8, 2011, at St. John\"™s Episcopal Church in Lynchburg. Light refreshments will be served at St. John\"™s immediately following the service. Interment in the presence of family members will take place in the St. Stephen\"™s Episcopal Church cemetery at 9 AM on Saturday, January 8.
