Patricia “Patty” Jane Lynch of Lynchburg, Virginia, died on March 13, 2015, at the age of 90.
Patty was born December 8, 1924, in Georgetown, Illinois, to parents John Rodman Grimes and Anna Florence Reed. She had two sisters, Susie and Dorothy, who preceded her in death.
Patty married Gene Lynch in 1943 and enjoyed 54 years of marriage before Gene’s death in 1997. The couple followed Gene’s career across several states as a professor and ultimately as a manager at Babcock & Wilcox in Lynchburg.
Patty absolutely loved playing bridge with friends, reading, knitting, and cooking. She also felt privileged to volunteer for a number of years at the food bank in Lynchburg, where she discovered the joy that comes from helping others who are in need.
Patty will be loved and missed by three sons, David, Darrel, and Michael; a granddaughter, Kelly; and a fabulous collection of friends who meant the world to her.
At Patty’s request, no services will be held. Condolences may be sent to 12618 Varny Place, Fairfax, VA, 22033. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.
