Patricia Quackenbush passed away peacefully on August 15, 2016 following a long illness.

Pat was born on April 15, 1947 in Manhattan, N.Y. to the late, Bertha and Arthur McBride. She attended State University of New York (SUNY) at Potsdam, N.Y., and in 1968, she married Edward Quackenbush. In the 1970s, they settled in Westport, N.Y. where they raised their four children, became the owners and proprietors of Ernie’s Market, and where Pat served on the school board of Westport Central School. Pat later went to work at Elizabethtown Community Hospital, where she developed many close friendships.

Before moving to Lynchburg, she resided in Franklin, Tenn. for ten years, and continued her hospital work. She was a volunteer at the Williamson Medical Center’s gift shop which she greatly enjoyed. Her biggest joys were her grandchildren. She played an active part in their lives and cherished being “Grandma Pat.” She served as a wonderful grandma mentor to her sisters.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Edward and April Quackenbush; her daughter, Jaye McBride; her son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Cherie Quackenbush; her son, Brian Quackenbush; seven beloved grandchildren, Colin, Kailey, Riley, Andrew, Bradley, Charlie and Casey; a sister, Jackie Locatelli; a sister and brother-in-law, Maureen McBride and Lee Cline; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Randolph Terracino; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward and her brother, Arthur McBride.

A funeral service and celebration of life will take place Monday, August, 22, 2016 at 12 noon at First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Lynchburg, Va.  Burial at St. Philip Neri Church in Westport, N.Y. will take place at a later date.
