Patricia Ann “Pat” Osborne Tinsley, 93, of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 7, 2019, at her home on Rivermont Avenue. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Glenn and Irene Estes Osborne; her husband of 57 years, Robert E. Tinsley; her brother, Howell A. Osborne and her daughter, Patricia Ann “Cissy” Tinsley Wingfield. Those were the hands that she reached for and which lovingly reached for hers to usher her into that eternal chamber in which she will peacefully reside for eternity.
Pat is survived by her two devoted sons, Robert E. “Buddy” Tinsley Jr., (Pam) and John S. Tinsley (Persis). In addition to her sons, she is survived by seven grandchildren, Whitney S. Tinsley, Robert E. “Rhett” Tinsley, III, John Sutton Tinsley, Jr. (Emma), Stuart L. Tinsley (Kate), Collin T. Tinsley (Sara), Peyton Wingfield, Leah Wingfield; and one great-grandson, William S. “Witt” Tinsley.
Pat attended Longwood College in Farmville, Va. and was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Lynchburg. She was an inveterate knitter and a crossword puzzle devotee. She was content and proud to be a loving wife, mother and homemaker, always opening her Rivermont Avenue home to all those who came to visit or just “hang out”. She was never judgmental, and her home was a sanctuary to all, something she cherished dearly. Her door was always open and she was always there. Many will remember her carrying a large pocketbook with her beloved dog, Pipsqueak, regally nestled inside. They were an inseparable pair until his passing many years ago. They were reunited last Friday to their mutual delight.
A private internment will take place Friday morning, June 14, 2019, at the Columbarium at St. John’s Episcopal Church, followed by a public visitation the same day from 3 to 5 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, Va., 24502. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church of Lynchburg.
On behalf of the family, a most heartfelt thank you is extended to Roma Fuqua, Brenda Read, Vanessa Davis and Angie Gray for the dedicated and loving care they provided to Pat through the years. Their service is profoundly appreciated.
