Patricia Tinsley Wingfield

Patricia Ann Tinsley Wingfield (Cissy) lost her long and courageous battle with cancer, passing away peacefully while in the Lynchburg General Hospital on Tuesday, June 19th 2012, at approximately 4:00 PM. Cissy was a resident of Lynchburg, Virginia her entire life.

Cissy was born on October 28, 1958, in Lynchburg to Robert Edward Tinsley, Sr. and Patricia Osborne Tinsley, their third child and only daughter. Cissy had two older brothers, Robert Edward Tinsley, Jr. of Danville, California and John Sutton Tinsley of Lynchburg. She attended Lynchburg public schools, Seven Hills School, and graduated from E C Glass High School in 1977. She then attended Hollins College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1981. In 1989, Cissy married John Winston Wingfield, also of Lynchburg, and the couple settled there. John and Cissy have two children, Peyton Tinsley Wingfield, 20, and Leah Virginia Wingfield, 17. Cissy was a full time homemaker and mother, as well as a part-time salesperson. She and her family resided happily at 552 Lady Slipper Lane. Cissy was active in her community and was a member of 'Moms in Touch.' Cissy, John, and their daughters are members of St. John's Episcopal Church.

Cissy was preceded in death by her father Robert, (Big Buddy). Cissy is survived by her mother, Pat, her brothers Robert, (Buddy) and John, her husband John, and her daughters Peyton and Leah as well as her nephews Robert E. Tinsley, III, (Rhett), Sutton Tinsley, Stuart Tinsley, and Collin Tinsley, and, her niece Whitney Tinsley.

There will be a family visitation at Tharp Funeral Home from 7:00 until 8:30 PM on Friday June, 22 2012, and a memorial service and reception at 11 AM at St. John's Episcopal Church on Saturday June 23. Cissy especially wanted to thank her many close friends, and those who became close through her battle with cancer, for their prayers, kind thoughts, and deeds. The Wingfield family would also like to express their appreciation for all of the prayers and love from so many throughout this past year. What a wonderful and deserving tribute to Cissy!
