Patricia Twiford Golden 84, of Elon-Monroe, Amherst County, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021 at her home in the presence of her family. She was the devoted wife of the late Thomas R. Golden for 63 years.
She was born on September 3, 1936 in Columbia, NC. She was the daughter of the late Heckstall and Selma Brickhouse Twiford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Rose Adams.
She leaves to cherish her memory six children. Thomas Barry Golden (Jackie) of Fresno, CA, Vanessa Cooper (David), Teresa Marie Golden, Jennifer Bell (Ed), all of Amherst County. Monsignor Patrick Dupree Golden of Roanoke and Richard Kelly Golden, DDS (Wendy), also of Amherst County.
Ten grandchildren, Lindsey Cooper Orwig (Brad) of Bluffton SC, Patricia “Trisha” Cooper McConaghy (Collin) of Richmond, Patrick H. Cooper of Folly Beach, SC, Kelsey May La Fleur (Aaron) of Columbus, MS, Zachary J. May (Abby) of Charleston, SC, Hannah G. Prodrabsky (Joey) of Chesapeake, VA, Cassidy A. Bell, Noah C. Golden, Lynley T. Golden, and Haden K. Golden, all of Amherst County. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and two more on the way.
Pat was devoted to her faith and family. She was a longtime, faithful member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Pat was also an avid gardener with a vast knowledge of horticulture. Family and friends always knew she would have the answer to any gardening questions. She was an accomplished seamstress and made many heirloom smocked outfits for her grandchildren.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to her caregivers, Tonya, Amanda, Hope, Katrina, Donna, Tina, Rachel and “Denise”. Through their loving care, they all became part of the family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church at 11:00AM Tuesday, April 27, 2021 with Monsignor Patrick Golden officiating. A private burial will take place following the ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Patricia Golden to the charity of your choice.
