“Phoenix”

03/17/1988 – 01/04/2025

Patrick McAdorey passed away on Saturday January 4, 2025, surrounded by many family and friends. He was 38. Patrick was born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania and moved to Lake Wales Florida as a child. As an Adult, he moved to Pigeon Forge Tennessee until he moved to Virginia where he would meet his fiancé, Deana Daughtry.

He is survived by his fiancé Deana Daugherty; Mother, Melody Long (Ronald); Brother, Thomas McAdorey (Michelle); Sisters, Sharon Powell (Mike) and Rebecca McAdorey. Patrick also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, Aunts/Uncles as well as close friends that will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by His Daughter Bridgett, Grandmother Mildred Maiden, Grand Father William H Maiden (Army veteran), Uncle William (Bill) “Beatle” Maiden who was also in the Army and recently buried in Arlington Cemetery.

Patrick was a soldier in the United States Army until his health prevented him from serving. He waged a lengthy battle against cancer that he refused to give up on. He came from a family with an extensive military background with many relatives serving for many generations back. From a young child he would play “Army” with his siblings and friends. From learning morse code from a walkie-talkie insert, to using military time and alphabet. While in the Army, he sent many letters to friends and family about all the things he was learning and the cool equipment he got to use and enjoyed every day of it. Those who knew him will always remember his love of writing, fancy watches, and clothes, as well as how much he loved spending time with those he loved. He loved being in the military and got joy from being able to be around other veterans with the Lynchburg Area Veterans council who helped him immensely in his final years. Patrick was a Saint Patrick’s Day baby and was named after his grandfather Patrick Francis. He loved celebrating “his holiday”. He would have liked his funeral to be a celebration of life and a time to reflect on all the good times.

A Celebration of life will be held at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
