Patsy Elizabeth Bowman Humphries

Patsy Elizabeth Humphries, 85, of Amherst, Va., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 29, 2020. She was a resident of Amherst County for 21 years.

Born on May 23, 1935 in Jekinjones, W. Va., Patsy was the daughter of the late John Andrew Bowman and the late Pansy Dye Bowman.

She is survived by a daughter Christi and her husband, Brad, of Amherst; four granddaughters: Corrie and her fiancé, Aaron, Sarah and her boyfriend, Gary, Jeri and her husband, Caleb, and Rebekah and her fiancé, Joey; four great-grandchildren: Aaron, Benjamin, Elijah, and Billie Anne; a sister Anita and her husband, Bob Green, of Fairmont, W. Va.; a brother Vic Bowman of Fort Meyers, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by three sisters, Edith Fortner, Jo Collins, and Billie Hall; three brothers, Jack, Del, and Sam Bowman; an two nephews.

Patsy was a graduate of Gary High School in Gary, W. Va. She was a government employee for over 30 years. After retirement, Patsy enjoyed bluegrass festivals, refinished antique furniture, spent lots of time on the lake, was an avid reader, and spent quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored.

A celebration of Patsy’s life will be held on Monday, October 5, 2020, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Virginia Memorial Park in Forest, Va.
