Paul L. Eggleston, 86, of Forest, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 10, 2022. He was born in Ridgeway, Virginia on December 27, 1934, a son of the late Richard Eggleston and Peggy Trent Eggleston.
Paul spent his youth in Ridgeway and graduated from Drewry Mason High School where he met his late spouse of 44 years, Carroll O’Dell Eggleston. Paul and Carroll devoted themselves to raising three children; Chris Carwile (Wendell) of Amherst, Susan Morgan (Leonard) of Huddleston, and Gary Eggleston of Forest.
Upon moving to Lynchburg, Paul became member of the Fort Avenue Church of Christ where he served as a deacon. He retired from Peoples Life Insurance Company (Transamerica) after 35 years. While employed at Peoples Life, he received numerous awards, but none more satisfying than being Sales Manager of the Year. He served the community as a member of the Forest Hill Ruritan Club and delivering Meals on Wheels.
Following the untimely death of Carroll, he met his current wife Joyce Jones Eggleston while attending a class reunion. Paul’s family increased by four stepdaughters; Audrey Chilton of Eden, NC, Patricia Law of Ridgeway, VA, Carol Smith (Stanley) of Eden, NC, and Jennifer Haynes (Michael) of Eden, NC. Paul and Joyce became active members of Forest Baptist Church. He always loved to tell a funny joke or play a game such as Rook or horseshoes with his family and friends. He loved the water and loved to fish. He was the man that would be there in an instant if you needed help or just wanted someone to talk to.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Paul was predeceased by five brothers and one sister, Joe, Richard, James, Russell, Phillip and Faylene Eggleston.
He is also survived by four grandchildren, Holly Puckett (James), Michael Carwile (HaleyWinebarger), and Justin Morgan (Jenny); seven step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Carter and Aidan Puckett, and Kelton and Sadie Morgan and twelve step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great grandchild.
