Paul William Leftwich
Paul William \"Bill\" Leftwich, 77, of Bedford died Friday, June 4, 2010 after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born on February 27, 1933 in Bedford County, the son of the late Ruby Agee and Paul B. Leftwich.
Bill is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Lorraine Holdren Leftwich, a son, Dale Leftwich (Peggy) of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Crystal Morris (Steve, \"Chip\") of Forest, Valda Spradlin (Ricky) of Bedford; three grandchildren, Charlie and Emily Morris, Chris Spradlin (Shelley); three great grandchildren, Mikayla Morris, Zachary and Cody Spradlin; two sisters, Mary Wright and Shirley Burnette (Bill) of Bedford; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Bill was an active member of Main Street United Methodist Church, a veteran of the Korean Conflict, member of VFW and other organizations. He was a machinist for many years. He retired from the Supreme Court of Virginia as a magistrate having served 24 years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bedford Hospice Care, 1621 Whitfield Dr., Bedford, VA 24523 or Bedford Life Saving Crew, PO Box 161, Bedford, VA 24523.
A celebration of Bill\"™s life will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 7, 2010 at Main Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Les Trail, Rev. Dr. Carl H. Douglass and Rev. Glenn Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in Virginia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM, Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford and other times at their residence.
