Peggy Ann Weymouth, 75, of Lynchburg, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018 at home with her family. She was the wife of Jack Weymouth since June 1, 1977.
Born Monday, November 30, 1942 in Lynchburg, Peggy was a daughter of the late Elias Monroe Walker and the late Lillie Ann Carwile.
In addition to her husband, Peggy is survived by her sons Nate Weymouth of Dallas, TX and James H. Weymouth of Atlanta, GA as well as her granddaughter, Elizabeth Weymouth. Further, she is survived by a step daughter, Lynn Morgan, and a niece, Ashley Morgan, both of Myrtle Beach, SC.
Peggy had two late brothers, Eugene Russell Walker of Bethesda, MD and Carroll Ray Walker of Chattanooga, TN who she both loved immensely.
Peggy was a devout Christian and member of the Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Lynchburg. Wherever she lived, she was an active participant of the local Women’s Garden Club, in Lynchburg, Wilmington, NC, and Marietta, GA. She graduated from EC Glass High School and attended Randolph Macon’s Women College. After many years in the real estate industry, she retired to become a homemaker to raise her two sons full time. She had a love for flower gardening, genealogy, reading, and bird watching.
Peggy was devoted to her sons and raised them the right way; to be polite Christian gentlemen and to have a kind heart. There was nothing she wound not have done for them. After her sons finally left home, she decided to return to Lynchburg to reconnect with her roots and extended family. She was delighted to be reacquainted with cousins and friends from her past.
Even at the end of her life, Peggy took solace in her faith in Jesus Christ. In prayer, her surviving family asks that God, in his eternal grace, watch over her kind soul in heaven. She will be sadly missed by everyone, especially her remaining family.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A Celebration of Peggy’s life will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October1, 2018 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, with Pastor Brett Eubanks officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
