Peggy Cofflin Floyd, 91, of Madison Heights, was welcomed into the arms of her heavenly Father on Saturday, June 7, 2025. For 69 years, she has been the loving and devoted wife of Preston Glenn Floyd.
Born in Lynchburg VA, she was the daughter of the late Robert Kirkwood Cofflin and Lillian Gertrude Cofflin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jeffery Scott Floyd, her sister, Virginia Cofflin Gillette, and brother, Melvin (Red) Harris Cofflin.
Peggy loved her Lord and Savior and was a faithful member of Madison Heights Baptist Church. She spent sixty years singing in the choir and was a devoted member of the Gleaner's Sunday School class. Peggy was a selfless caregiver and took great joy in helping and encouraging those in need. She was an avid sports fan, especially the Atlanta Braves, and often had two screens going at the same time so she could keep up with multiple games. Peggy was affectionately known as the Pickle Lady...she kept Madison Heights stocked with her delicious homemade pickles.
She loved and cherished her family and is survived by her devoted son, Terry Floyd (Erma Oles); seven grandchildren, Chase Floyd (Sheena), Steel Floyd, Kaine Floyd, Lacie Pesce (Taylor), Timothy Floyd (Nicole), Andrea Floyd, and Jazzlyn Floyd; five great-grandchildren, Rudi Floyd, Briceson Pesce, Talon Floyd, Anakin Floyd, and Leona Nelson.
The family would like to thank the staff of Lynchburg General Hospital and Westminster Canterbury Hospice for their compassionate and excellent care.
A memorial service to celebrate Peggy's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 13, 2025, at Madison Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Josh Allen, Youth Pastor Randy Bower: and Chaplain Bill Dawson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM:
