Peggy Marie Hartless, age 83, entered into eternal peace on December 27, 2017, at her lifetime home in Amherst County, Virginia. Peggy was born in Green County, Virginia on June 12, 1934, the daughter of the late Raymond Clyde Raines and Beulah Banford Raines Hudson.
The loving wife of 64 years to the late Blaine Stratton Hartless, Peggy is also preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Edge of South Carolina and Sylvia Sykora of Hopewell, Virginia.
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her brother Raymond Raines Jr. and spouse Doris of Lynchburg, Virginia; loving children, Roger Stratton Hartless and late daughter in law Linda of Amherst, Danny Ray Hartless and spouse Donna of Winchester, and Debbie Marie Jones of Powhatan, Virginia; six adoring grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Peggy was a lifelong believer in Christ and attended services at Midway Baptist Church in Amherst County, Virginia. She was a loving wife, caring mother and grandmother. Peggy was a retired seamstress from Courtland Manufacturing of Amherst, and an accomplished homemaker. Known for her sweet smile and wonderful sense of humor, she always went out of her way to make everyone feel welcome in her home. Peggy enjoyed reading in her spare time, but now will be able to read, laugh and reunite with family and friends to her heart’s content.
Peggy made a positive impact on the lives of all who knew her.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Home, Madison Heights. A celebration of Peggy’s life be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, at Midway Baptist Church, with Rev. Don Harvey officiating. Interment will follow in Briarwood Memorial Gardens.
