Perry Lynn Pendleton, 58, of Moneta, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016 at his residence. His life was cut short by cancer but cancer was helpless against Perry and his will to live life to the fullest.
Born May 21, 1957 in Bedford, he was preceded in death by his loving mother, Myrtle Lansdown Gibson.
Perry is survived by his two daughters: Kelly Marie Smith and husband, Billy; Brandi Leigh Brown and husband, Greg; nine grandchildren: Tiffany Garman and husband, Ethan, Jake, Zack, Maddie, Aniya, and Karlee Smith, Alivia, Miles, and Cyrus Brown; former wife and friend: Lisa Pendleton Sayers; two brothers: Jimmy Pendleton and Lonnie Pendleton and wife, Margie; two sisters: Donna Aultice and husband, Kenny and Patricia Miller; nephew: Travis Pendleton who he loved like a son, and many other special nieces and nephews; best friends: David Holdren and Laurie Bruggemann and numerous other exceptional friends; and his cherished co-workers and friends at United Parcel Service.
Perry was a loving father and loyal friend. He loved his pets, his John Deere Tractor, The Andy Griffith Show, and most importantly, his friends and family. Everyone looked forward to a visit from “Poppy.” He always had a treat for the kids and the pets. Friends never knew when “P.P.” might drop by but his visits were always welcome.
The family would like to express gratitude to the staff at the Blue Ridge Cancer Center, Good Samaritan Hospice, and the UVA Cancer Center.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Tharp Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. conducted by Pastor Steven L. Miller.
