Philip Kenneth Leffler, 97, of Lynchburg, Virginia, entered into the eternal presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, April 30, 2024. Born January 15,1927, in Washington, D.C.. He was the son of the late Marion C. Leffler and Jennie P. Leffler. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Louise Mildred Leffler.
Philip proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWIl and in the Korean Conflict.
He was awarded two Bronze Stars. Following his service in the Army, he continued serving his country in the Veterans Administration, the Small Business Administration, and ultimately back with the Department of the Army as a Lead Computer Assistant for 25 years. Upon retiring, he and Louise moved to Lynchburg, VA.
Philip found hope and peace when he discovered the truth of Romans 5:6-11:
"When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God's sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God's condemnation. For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God."
Philip enjoyed sharing this truth - especially as it is summarized:
John 3:16: "For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life."
Romans 10:9: "If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
Philip and Louise thrived in their final retirement years at Runk and Pratt Senior Living on Leesville Rd.. Philip was a member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church.
Philip's life of service to his country will be forever honored by his interment at the Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, VA.
