It is with sadness that we share that our beloved Phillip Wayne Johnson left this earth and went to be with the Lord on May 27, 2020. Although we’re thankful that he’s not suffering, he will be sorely missed by his loving wife, Edna Carol Geehan Johnson of almost 57 years; daughter Tami Carr; granddaughter Ashley temple and her husband, Timothy Temple; great-grandson Cody Temple; grandson Jeremy Sligh; son Phillip Wayne Johnson, Jr. and wife, Darla Johnson; grandson Joshua Johnson; granddaughter Juliann Tuggle and her husband, James Tuggle; great-granddaughter Baylee Tuggle and granddaughter Jaime Johnson; one brother Ronnie Johnson and numerous nephews and nieces.
Born on December 28, 1943, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at a young age. He was a faithful Baptist deacon and church bus driver for many years. He was loved by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents Cecil Elmer Johnson and Oakey Ann Austin Johnson; one sister, Betty Johnson; three brothers Paul Johnson, Cecil Johnson and Doug Johnson along with two sisters-in-law Lucy Johnson and Nancy Johnson and Ronnie’s wife, Linda;; two nephews Kenny Johnson and Michael Johnson.
There will be a memorial service at a later date. We know this isn’t really easy goodbye. As he loved to say, “See ya later!”
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
