Phyllis Bell Viar, 78, of Lynchburg, left this earth for her heavenly home on May 10, 2018.
Born in Lynchburg on July 31, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Glenmore and Grace Bell.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Shelton (Sonny) Viar; four children: Kathy Camire (Andy) of Richmond, Mark Viar (Traci) of Forest, Jeff Viar (girlfriend Ellen Tomlin) of Forest, and Donna Viar of Forest; two sisters: Sandra Wilkes (Roger), Faith Howard (WD); and brother Steve Bell. She was also blessed with seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of many other family members.
After graduating from E. C. Glass, she worked at GE for 10 years. Then later she went to work at B&W-BWXT where she worked for 48 years. She was a lifelong member of Fairview Christian Church. Phyllis enjoyed playing sports, especially softball, where she played city league until the age of 47. She enjoyed cooking shows, old westerns, and loved watching her hummingbirds.
She will be greatly missed by family and friends. A special thanks to her many friends from work.
A visitation will be held at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg on Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 3:00-3:45 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Michael Camire officiating. The family will be receiving family and friends after the service at the home of Jeff Viar and Ellen Tomlin at 11207 East Lynchburg Turnpike until 8:00 p.m.
