Phyllis Eileen Csatlos Gribbin went to be with the Lord on Friday July 1st at the VCU Medical Center in Richmond following a five month battle with lymphoma. She is survived by her husband William G. Gribbin of Forest; three children, Matthew Paul Gribbin of Herndon, VA; Mrs. Samuel (Nicole Eileen) Dean of Vinton; and Michael William Gribbin of Lynchburg. She is also survived by her mother Eileen Csatlos of Sharon, PA; her brother Ernest Csatlos of Sharon; another brother, Richard Csatlos of Houston, TX; and a sister, Mrs. Jeff (Carole) Hawkins of Greenville, SC. She also leaves four grandchildren, Corey William Gribbin of Forest, VA; Anisten Lennon Cale Gribbin and Sulliven Rhye Cale Gribbin of Lynchburg; and Colter Samuel Dean of Vinton.
She was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania on June 26, 1945, and earned a B.S. in Elementary Education at Mansfield (PA) University and an M. Ed. in Elementary Education at Edinboro (PA) University. She was married to William Gribbin on June 28, 1969, in Sharon, PA. She taught ten years in Smethport, Pennsylvania public schools and 25 more years at Lynchburg Christian Academy. During that time she taught classes in kindergarten, first, second and sixth grade. For the past three years she had supervised student teachers at Liberty University. Phyllis was a member of Calvary Chapel Lynchburg.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Tharp Funeral Home on Breezewood Drive. A memorial service will be held Wednesday July 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Chapel of Lynchburg on Leesville Road. Pastor Troy Warner will be officiating. Interment will be at Virginia Memorial Gardens in Forest immediately following the service.
