Phyllis Owen Floyd

Phyllis “Polly” Owen Floyd, 87, of 219 Hopkins Rd, Lynchburg, passed away on March 19, 2025, at the Summitt Health and Rehab.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, service and kindness

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion E. Owen and Phyllis C Owen and her Husband W. “Billy” Floyd.

She is survived by her sons, W. Donald Floyd and his wife Karen, Eddie Chase Floyd and his husband Steve Showalter of Hillsborough, NC. She also leaves behind her cherished granddaughter, Katherine F. Mitchell and her husband Ryan. Her adored great grandchildren Danielle, Chloe and her buddy Cooper “Dooper”.

Her greatest reward was spending time with her granddaughter and great grandchildren.

Polly had a knack for crafts. She spent years doing ceramics with Mrya Key, and Ruby Harris.

She then moved onto Continental Hobby Center and enjoyed the time spent there. She wasn’t ready to stop yet, she went on the Contract Post office at Express Lane, Waterlick, where she stayed until they closed.

She was involved with the Lyn- Dan Heights Ladies Auxiliary from the time of the department forming.

She was involved with the James River Kennel Club and Wag-n-Bark dog training. She had a love for all animals, but loved her Dobermans.

She was a member of the LynDan Heights Ruritan Club and enjoyed the fellowship with everyone.

Her warmth, generosity and unwavering love for family, friends, and animals will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to BARCC, link is below.

A graveside service will be held at Fort Hill Memorial Park on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM The family will receive friends at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, on March 21, 2025 from 5 - 7 P.M.
