Phyllis Mays Jordan

Phyllis Mays Jordan, 86, of Forest, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 13, 2025. She was the loving wife of Kenneth F. Jordan for 65 years.

Phyllis was born on November 29, 1938, a daughter of the late James W. Mays and Almeda Bennett Mays. Phyllis was raised on a farm in Pittsylvania County until the age of 16 when she moved to Lynchburg to live with her sister. She was a graduate of E.C. Glass High School. Phyllis was a loving homemaker for most of her life but also worked for a number of years at RST Mailing Service. She was an active member of Heritage Baptist Church until her extended battle with dementia prevented her attendance. Phyllis loved her family and was devoted to them. She enjoyed traveling with her husband after his retirement. She loved life and always had a smile on her face.

In addition to her husband, Phyllis is survived by a daughter Joni F. Jordan of Forest, a son Timothy A. Jordan of Forest, and a very close family friend Valerie A. Mahaffey of Forest. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg.

A Graveside service for Phyllis will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 18, 2025, at Spring Hill Cemetery in Lynchburg with Pastor Duane Gregory officiating.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg is assisting the family.
