On December 8, 1912, an angel was born in Sagua La Grande, Cuba. Her name was Purificacion. She came with her husband and two sons to the United States in 1961 for what they thought would be a short 3 month stay. She died 51 years to the month after arriving here. She spent most of her life in the United States in her adopted hometown of Titusville, Florida where her husband worked at the nearby Kennedy Space Center as an engineer. After the death of her husband, she spent the last 17 years living with her son, Luis, at Smith Mountain Lake.
On October 14, 2012, Purificacion (Pura) left us to join her heavenly Father and receive her heavenly wings. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guillermo, of Titusville, FL, mother, father, five sisters, and one brother of Sagua La Grande, Cuba, and her grandson William Sanchez of Daytona Beach, FL.
She is survived by her sons, Luis Sanchez, fiancée Gail of Moneta, VA; Guillermo Sanchez, wife Yaned Estalves of Doral FL, four grandchildren; Deanna Sanchez and life partner Pam Dominguez of Pasadena, CA, Guillermo Sanchez of Asuncion, Paraguay, Bielo Vasquez, fiancée Cindy, and Claudia Vasquez of Doral, FL, four great-grandchildren; Mason and Paxton Sanchez of Pasadena, CA, and Diana and Leonardo Vasquez of Doral, FL.
