Ralph Eugene Leinart, 88, of Montvale, peacefully passed away at his home on March 15, 2019. He was born June 21, 1930 in Clinton, Tennessee to John Isaac and Laura Leinart. His family moved to Virginia when he was a young boy. He attended Cradock High School in Portsmouth where he met the love of his life, Anna Lee Hutchens. Ralph and Anna were married 69 years.
Ralph was a devoted husband and father and a man of strong Christian faith. He was an ordained deacon and attended Faith Life Baptist Church in Montvale. Ralph worked as a carpenter and as a refrigeration mechanic. He also served in the Naval Reserves.
Ralph had many interests. He loved to fish and as a young man, played golf. He was an enthusiastic sports fan especially of football, baseball and racing. In his later years, he was a talented wood carver. He also loved the outdoors and was an avid birdwatcher and gardener.
In addition to his parents, Ralph is preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lee Hutchens Leinart; brother, Roy Leinart; son-in-law, Wade Hellman; sister-in-law, Patricia Hutchens; and brother-in-law, George Hutchens.
He is survived by his son, Gary Stephen Leinart, and wife Amy; daughter, Debra Hellman; and daughter Linda Harrison and husband, Bill; seven grandchildren, Billy Harrison and wife Shanna, Melissa Leinart, Rebecca Leinart Johnson and husband, Matthew, Stephen Hellman and wife Leeann, Ginny Harrison and husband, Yuri, Katie Heitz and husband Chris, Jennifer Nash and husband Alex; ten great-grandchildren, Claudia, Jacob, Kierra, Ellie, Henry, Mary Hazel, Benjamin, Caroline, Claire and Beckett; also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service and celebration of Ralph’s life will be conducted at 1:00pm on Monday, March 18, 2019 at Faith Life Baptist Church in Montvale with Roger McKinney officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Hutchens Family Cemetery also in Montvale. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00pm prior to the service also at the church.
