Ralph Johnson Fitzgerald

Ralph Johnson Fitzgerald, 79, of Lynchburg, VA, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012. He was the husband of Rosa M. Fitzgerald for 25 years.

 

Born Tuesday, February 07, 1933 in Arrington, VA, Ralph was a son of the late Maggy Jane Fitzgerald.

 

In addition to his wife, Ralph is survived by a daughter, Denise McKinney, of Lynchburg, a son Mike Buckner and his wife, Kim, of Clearwater, FL, three grandchildren: Aaron Buckner and his wife, Diamond, of Clearwater, FL, Megan Hamlett and her husband, Stephen, of Spout Springs, and Ashley Morrell and his wife, Erin, of Concord; six great grandchildren; Damon, McKenzie, Riley, Daisy, Brentley, and Dennis; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

In addition to his mother, Ralph was preceded in death by a son Dennis D. McKinney, three brothers, and a sister.

 

Ralph proudly served our country as a member of the U.S. Air Force. Ralph always had a smile on his face. He loved children, especially his great grandchildren, who he found great pleasure in. Being from a large family Ralph especially enjoyed family gatherings, and bluegrass music. He will be missed by his many friends.

 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday, June 01, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg. A celebration of Ralph's life will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 01, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory with Dr. J. Monty Fox officiating. Military rites will be provided by American Legion Post 16.
