Ralph Frank Linstra, 75, died unexpectedly on May 13, 2024, peacefully at home. He was born July 7, 1948, in Patterson, NJ, the son of John Linstra Sr and Marion Thomas.
Dr. Ralph F. Linstra leaves a legacy of a 45 year career in education. After earning his Bachelors from The Kings College, he was the recipient of a Kellogg Foundation fellowship to attend the University of Massachusetts, School of Education. He attained both his M.Ed. (1975) and Ed.D. (1976). Following graduation he was employed for 15 years in the management of medical education with the Ohio University, College of Osteopathic Medicine and the University of Massachusetts, College of Medicine in the AHEC program as well as the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health. In 1994 he came to Liberty University to teach Community Health Education, was Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and became the founding Dean of the School of Health Sciences. His motivational style of leadership assisted faculty in creating 9 new degree majors. Dr. Linstra was a man of great faith and integrity. His leadership was exemplary and his thoughtful, loving, fun and encouraging attitude meant so much to fellow faculty and students. He loved his students and was affectionately called “Doc”.
Ralph married Judy Glazier and they celebrated 53 years together this past January. He is pre deceased by his parents. He is survived by his brother John Linstra Jr. and sister Joyce Beverly Linstra, his daughter Kami Jones and husband Patrick, son Scott Linstra and wife Mary Beth as well as his grandchildren Sydney, Erin, Leah and Barrett Jones and Grant Linstra.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024, at 10 A.M., at Plainview Cemetery, North Leverett, Massachusetts with a reception following at North Leverett Baptist Church. All are welcome.
