Ralph O. Powers, 85, of Hillman, Michigan, passed away July 26, 2015, at Alpena Regional Medical Center.
Ralph was born on June 19, 1930, in Lynchburg, Virginia to the late Charlie T. Powers Sr. and Betty E. Powers. Ralph served honorably and with distinction in the U.S. Army in various assignments including Army Recruiter in Lynchburg, Virginia, The Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Korean Military Advisory Group, and was awarded two Army Commendation Medals. He retired after 21 years of service with the rank of Master Sergeant. He was also a Civil Service employee with the District of Columbia, Department of Corrections and was retired after 20 years of service.
Mr. Powers is survived by three sons, Michael E. Powers of Petersburg, Florida, Timothy J. Powers (Renee) of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Jeffrey D. Powers (Candy) of Hillman, Michigan; a brother, John M. Powers of Lynchburg, Virginia; 11 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Ralph was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Shirley R. Powers and five brothers.
Ralph would like to be remembered by his many friends in Lynchburg, Virginia and Hillman, Michigan.

A service for Ralph will be held at the graveside in Fort Hill Memorial Park, Monday, August 3, 2015, at 11 a.m. Family and friends will be received Sunday, August 2, 2015 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
