Ralph P. Breeding Jr., 93, of Lynchburg, Va., passed away January 19, 2017.
He was born on December 19, 1923, in Harrisburg, Pa., and years later moved to Richmond, Va.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph P. Breeding Sr., and Ruth E. Breeding, his son Ralph F. Breeding, and his daughter Nancy D. Breeding.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Sue Davis Breeding; his son, Charles A. Breeding (Nancy); his daughter, Alice B. Duncan (George); his daughter-in-law, Kati Breeding; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Breeding, Joseph Breeding, Karen Payne (Howard), Melanie Blair (John), Matthew Breeding (Mary Elizabeth), Clayton Breeding (Christy), and 13 great-grandchildren.
He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond, Va., VA Tech in 1946, and was an army veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He worked for many years and retired from Babcock & Wilcox. He was a long time active member of Chestnut Hill Baptist Church and a member of Masonic Lodge #39. He was a hospital volunteer for many years after retiring. He loved his family, his Hokies, Hillcats baseball, High School football, and always a good joke. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Ralph’s life will be held at Chestnut Hill Baptist Church, at 12 noon., Monday, January 23, 2017, with the Rev. Ian McManamey officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The American Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.
