Ray Charles Pennix
On October 23, 2023, Ray Charles Pennix left this world and went to be with our Lord. Born in Lynchburg, VA on September 30, 1966, he was the son of the late Willie Hubbard Pennix and Lenora Evans Pennix. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents David and Linda Evans Pennix and Hubert and Irene Russ Evans; four brothers, Willie Pennix Jr. “Boone”, Ronald Lee Pennix “Fuzzy”, Edward Harvey, and Cornell Pennix, and two sisters Christine Marie Banks (Richard “Bobby”) and Jacqueline Stone. He was also preceded in death by his fatherfather-in-law in law Frank Coles, his mother-in-law in law Asonlona Coles and one sister in law Emma Jean Davis.
Ray was employed by Aramark and his work location was Randolph College. His work history also included Meriwether-Godsey, Inc. and Depot Grille. He was a 1985 graduate of E. C. Glass High School. Ray loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and especially enjoyed talking about them with his brother Jerome.
Ray is survived by his wife, Gladys Coles Pennix; four sons Deshawn Pennix, Jawon Pennix, Charleston Davis, and Jonathan Davis. He is also survived by one granddaughter Armani Neveah Pennix, one grandson Dominic Greyson Pennix; three brothers, Tyrone C. Pennix, Anthony J. Pennix, and Willie Harvey. He is also survived by six sisters-in-law, Patsy Pennix Shirley Pennix, Ladonna Gail Cabell Pennix, Florence Coles, Joanne Coles, and Janice Merriman two brothers-in-law, Arthur Stone and Joe Davis, an adopted daughter Nashana Jennings, a cherished and loyal four-legged companion Major Payne Pennix and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at 2 P.M. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
