Ray Douglas Layne

Ray Douglas Layne, 77, of Forest, Va. passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born February 5, 1944. He was the son of the late Stephen B. Layne and Mary Stuart Layne. He was the loving husband of Brenda Nash Layne for 56 years. He served his country in the United States Air Force.

Ray worked for BWX Technologies for 38 years. He graduated from Lynchburg College.

In addition to his wife, Brenda he is survived by his beautiful daughter Melissa Anne Beane and husband Jeff of Forest; grandson, Chris Beane (Ashley) of Iowa; his little dog, Daisy Anne; brother, Sam Layne (Josy) and sister, Lula Hill (J.J.). He was preceded in death by two brothers, and two sisters.

He had a thirst for knowledge and was always learning and researching something new.  He dearly loved his family. Ray will always be in our hearts and never forgotten.

The family would like to thank his friends and family for being here and thank everyone at the hospital for excellent care. Especially his Dr. Emaculate Tebit and Dr. Preyasha Tuladhar, MD

A memorial service will be at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. with Chaplain Wayne Lanham officiating. All Covid restrictions will be observed, face coverings and social distancing are required.
