Raymond F. Henderson, Jr.

Raymond F. Henderson, Jr. of Rustburg passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2012. He was 68 years old. He was the loving husband of Karen W. Henderson for over 49 years.

 

Born in Lewis, DE, he was the son of the late Ray F. Henderson, Sr. and Marie Cooper Henderson.

 

Ray is survived by two sons: William Ray Henderson and wife, Kim of Smithfield, NC, and Christopher Dean Henderson of Fincastle; and four grandchildren: Ashley Brooke Powers, Alexander Ray Henderson, Nathaniel Christopher Henderson, and Jeremiah David Henderson. He is also survived by his brother: Gary P. Henderson of Princess Anne, MD, and two sisters: Patsy Jarvis of Seaford, DE, and Jane Smack of Laurel, DE.

 

Ray was retired from Areva after 34 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, camping, hunting, and will always be remembered for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. Ray was a member of and held various offices in the Izaak Walton League of Lynchburg. He was a member of the Campbell County Triad and S.A.L.T. Counsel and enjoyed volunteer work with the Campbell County Sheriff\"™s office, the Lynchburg Police Department and the Salvation Army.

 

A memorial service will be held at Tharp Funeral Home at 12:00 noon on Monday, August 6, 2012. A visitation with friends and family will be held one hour prior.
