Raymond Lewis Ferguson, 71, of Madison Heights, VA, died Friday, June 04, 2010.
Born Tuesday, May 30, 1939 in Appomattox, VA, Raymond was a son of the late Bernard Ferguson and the late Mary Doss Ferguson. He retired from Babcock & Wilcox after 27 years.
Raymond is survived by his former wife Ramona Ferguson of Madison Heights, a son Michael R. Ferguson and his wife, Tara, a granddaughter Elana Ferguson, all of Gretna, VA, three sisters, Phyllis Angel (Conway), Nancy Woods (Jack), and Ruby Lupshu (Mike).
In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred and Pete Ferguson, and three sisters, Mary Ferguson, Betty F. Edmunds, and Dot F. Ferguson.
Raymond was a loving father and grandfather. He was very passionate about baseball and loved to umpire ballgames. He enjoyed teaching and watching Michael play sports. He will be remembered as a good hearted and kind man, who loved to help others.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday June 6, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A graveside service will be conducted in Meade Cemetery at 1 p.m. Monday June 7, 2010, with Pastor Jonathan Falwell officiating.
