Raymond John Pfaff April 16, 1947 – February 27, 2025 Raymond John Pfaff (77) of Bedford, Virginia, passed away peacefully in his home on February 27, 2025. Born on April 16, 1947 in Englewood, New Jersey, Raymond lived a life of faith, service and dedication to his family.
A proud Vietnam veteran, Raymond served three years of active duty in the U.S. Air Force before beginning a career as an IBM computer technician, where he worked for 25 years in Paramus, New Jersey. After moving to Bedford, Virginia in 2000, he spent seven years with the United States Postal Service in Moneta, Virginia before retiring. During his life, Raymond pursued his passion for innovation—ultimately becoming the inventor of the patented Port-A-Wall.
Raymond was a man who worked with his hands and his heart. Whether hunting, restoring antique cars, or enjoying the peacefulness of the beach, he found joy in creating, building, and fixing. His greatest love, however, was his faith and family. A devoted member of Heritage Baptist Church, he served as a deacon and volunteered tirelessly with the facilities team, ensuring the church was a place of worship and community for all.
He was blessed to share 57 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Karen. Together, they built a legacy of love through their children, Darren Pfaff (Fran), Michelle Harding (Fred), and Amy Cox (Martin), and their cherished grandchildren: Braxton Pfaff (Morgan), Parker Pfaff (Samantha), Alexa Cox, Brynnan Pfaff, Martin Cox III, Emma Harding, Preston Pfaff, Abigail Harding, Samuel Harding, and great-grandson Thatcher Pfaff.
A celebration of life will be held at Heritage Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Virginia, on April 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
