Raymond Thomas “R.T.” Edwards died Thursday, March 12, 2015, in Lynchburg, Va. He was the loving husband of Coretta W. “Toady” Edwards for 59 years.
He was born January 25, 1931, in Little Rock, Ark. to the late Roy T. Edwards and Christina A. Edwards. He is preceded in death by his three sisters, Verneal Curtis, Irene Feild, and Eula Nell Oliver.
In addition to his wife, R.T. leaves behind his son, Bart W. Edwards and his wife, Susan S. “Suzy” Edwards of Forest, Va.; and two grandchildren, Rollans W. “Rollie” Edwards and Carter Lee Edwards.
R.T. grew up in Fayetteville, Ark. on Wilson Avenue. He was a graduate of Fayetteville High School and a graduate of the University of Arkansas. R.T. served our country during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Europe. R.T. and Toady spent most of their life together in Washington County, first in Fayetteville and later in Prairie Grove. R.T. had a long career with the JC Penny Co., and as the owner of R.T.’s Liquor. He never met a stranger and was a friend to many.
A memorial service will be held in Lynchburg, Va. at Runk and Pratt at Liberty Ridge on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at 2 p.m. Interment will be in the Fayetteville National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Ark. on Friday, May 8, 2015, at 2 p.m.
