Reba Sally “Becky” Turner, 89, of Lynchburg, passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2016. She was the wife of the late Steven Francis Turner for 56 years.
Becky was born in Moneta, Va. on February 28, 1926, to the late Meredith Nathaniel Newman and the late Mable Helen Newman. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and well known to many for her upholstery abilities and love of flowers.
She is survived by three sons, William Pugh Turner of San Marcos, Ca., Malcolm “Mack” Lewis Turner, and Ralph Lawrence Turner both of Lynchburg; two daughters, Mary Ellen Ireland and Frances Laing, both of Atlanta, Ga.; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Hazel Obenchain of Manassas, Va., Rosie Klopsis of Fredericksburg, Va., and Ruth Ann Green of Lynchburg. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, one sister, one half-brother, and four half-sisters.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 22, 2016, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. A celebration of Becky’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at Pleasant View Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with Pastor Rick Ewing officiating.
