Rebecca Garrett Vest, 96, of Bedford, died Monday, January 14, 2013 in Richfield Retirement Center. Born in Bedford County on June 26, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Robert Luther Lazenby and Eddie Greenwood Garrett Lazenby.
In addition to her parents, Rebecca was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Aurelius Vest; two brothers, Gordon Luther Lazenby and Ashby L. Lazenby; and a sister, Virginia M. Lazenby. She is survived by two sons, Stephen Clarence Vest and his wife, Jayne L. Vest and John Garrett Vest and his wife, Ann Rogers all of Roanoke; a granddaughter, Emma Rebecca Vest. Other survivors include parents of her daughter-in-law, Gilbert and Jeanice Levesque; a sister-in-law, Frances C. Lazenby; a niece, Fran Gordon Lazenby; and a cousin; Lois Denny and her husband, Bob. Also numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins of her late husband, Clarence.

A celebration of Rebecca\"™s life will be conducted at 10 AM, Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Main Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Bart Weakley officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM, Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home.
